What Knaizen is
Knaizen is a business-to-business fleet telematics platform. It is used by fleet operators (owners and managers) to monitor vehicles equipped with GPS tracking hardware that the operator has installed in their own commercial vehicles.
Knaizen is operated from Pakistan. References to "we", "us", "our", and "Knaizen" in this policy refer to Knaizen and its operators.
What we collect
From you, the fleet operator:
- Your email address (via our authentication provider, Clerk).
- Your name, if you provide it.
- Your tenant settings — fleet name, default speed limit, alert webhook URL if set.
From your vehicles, via the GPS hardware you have installed:
- Vehicle position (latitude, longitude), speed, heading.
- Ignition status, derived from the tracker.
- Device telemetry — GSM signal, GPS satellite count, external power voltage, backup battery, mobile carrier code.
- Device IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) — a hardware identifier of the tracker, not of any person.
- Derived trip and event records (trip start/end, harsh braking, overspeed, idle).
If you choose to integrate Knaizen with a third-party tracking platform, we also store the API keys or other credentials you provide for that platform ("Integration Credentials"). Integration Credentials are encrypted at rest, never logged in plain text, used only to perform the integration you requested, and deleted on request.
The Knaizen mobile application does not request, collect, or transmit location data, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, calendar, or any other personal data from your phone or device. The app is a read-only viewer for telemetry that comes from the GPS hardware you installed in your vehicles.
Map data and city boundaries
Map tiles and city boundaries displayed in Knaizen are sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). The map images themselves are served by CartoDB. City boundaries used for the platform-curated City Zones feature are derived from OpenStreetMap administrative regions and may not reflect official government borders. When you customize a city boundary, your edited shape is stored tenant-private and is not shared back to OpenStreetMap.
IMEI and abuse-prevention data
To prevent abuse of any evaluation period, beta access, or other promotional access we may offer, we record and retain the IMEI of GPS tracking devices that connect to Knaizen, along with the cumulative time each IMEI has spent on free or evaluation access. This record is retained even after an account is closed or deleted, and may be used to deny re-enrollment of the same device into a future free or evaluation period.
The IMEI is a hardware identifier of the tracking device, not a personal identifier of any individual. We retain this record for legitimate anti-abuse purposes only and do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
No payment data is collected during the development & testing phase
Knaizen is currently in a development and testing phase. No commercial sale of the Service is in progress. Accordingly, we do not collect or store any payment information (credit card numbers, bank account details, etc.) at this time.
When the Service moves to commercial launch, payment processing will be handled by a regulated third-party payment processor. We will update this Privacy Policy at that time to describe what is collected, by whom, and for how long.
How we use this data
- To show you the live state and history of vehicles in your fleet.
- To compute trip summaries, harsh-driving events, and overspeed alerts.
- To authenticate you when you sign in.
We do not use your data, or your fleet's data, for advertising. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Where data is stored
- Vehicle telemetry, trip records, and tenant settings are stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted in the European Union.
- Authentication data (email, password hash, session) is held by a third-party identity provider operating from the United States.
- The web dashboard is served from a third-party cloud platform operating from the United States.
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Daily backups of the primary database are taken and stored in the same region.
Third parties we rely on
To operate the Service we rely on a small set of third-party sub-processors — including a managed database host, a cloud platform for the web dashboard, an identity provider for authentication, and the mobile app stores for distribution of the mobile app.
A current list of sub-processors, including their names and roles, is available on request. Email support@knaizen.com and we will send it back.
We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Retention and deletion
Vehicle telemetry and trip records are retained for as long as your fleet is active in Knaizen. We do not currently auto-delete historical data.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@knaizen.com from the address registered to your account. We will action your request within 30 days.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, and delete the data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@knaizen.com.
If you are based in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you additional rights, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Knaizen is a tool for commercial fleet operators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be communicated by email to the address registered to your account.
